Product Review – BeachBody, Proactiv +, Kraft, Crest White Strips and Kashi

Standard

Hellooo everyone!  This post is centered around products that I have used from Pinterest and less about things I have cooked or created.  Hopefully you will find something in this blog useful or know someone you could share the information with 🙂

So, lets start with Proactiv +!  I am 32 years old and struggling with acne.  While it’s not as bad as it could be, it is enough to make me uncomfortable…and the everyday makeup routine of cover this and hide that, is getting old.  I have to mention that I didn’t have acne as a teenager and my first real bout with acne was when I was 28yrs old.  I had somehow developed cystic acne…and not only was it hard to look at myself in the mirror, but it was painful.  Off to the dermatologist I went!  She told me that sometimes our hormones get thrown out of whack and this is the result.  GREAT, now give me a solution so I can get my life back!  She put me on an antibiotic regimen and gave me some prescription face wash.  While the acne cleared up before I was out of the medication, she had me continue taking it to make sure I didn’t have another flare up before my hormones settled down.  Well, here I am a few yrs later…suffering again (both cystic and regular acne).  The photo below shows some of the things I have tried…

I realize that all of these things are topical and wouldn’t help the cysts, but I was desperate.  Some of it worked for a bit, but nothing seemed to be a long term solution, so off to the dermatologist I went.  She put me on antibiotics again (twice a day)…and it helped, but I was still playing cover-up everyday.  Finally one day I have a breakdown and ordered Proactiv+.  I was intrigued by the people on the commercials who were my age and not the normal teenagers you usually see.  I was also interested in this new “smart target technology” which supposedly helps get the medicine deeper into your pores where the problem is.   I ordered the items below (the basic package), plus the upgrade (mark fading pads and eye cream).

I must say….I am VERY pleased with this new line!  I feel the products working on my skin and the moisturizer is AMAZING!  It doesn’t have SPF in it though, but they have one you can purchase that has it.  (this irritates me bc they know everyone should have SPF on their skin!) Whatever, ill gripe about that another time.  Oh and it came with the face mask, which is fabulous!  its an overnight zit zapper 😉

This picture is of the left side of my face on the day I received the products and then just 3 days later.  It’s a BIG difference.

I still have some red marks, which is why I haven’t posted a more recent pic…but I can say that the stuff works!!!!  I have only have 2 new breakouts in the 2.5 weeks I’ve been using the products and they healed really quickly.  I’m hoping the marks continue to heal and fade!  I can say that while I am still using concealer, it is MUCH less and only to cover the red marks.  SCORE for Proactiv+!!!

Kashi Roasted Vegetable Pizza:

This isn’t a long review…but one I wanted to share.  I LOVE pizza, but since I’m trying to lose some weight, it doesn’t fit too well into my life right now.  Last week at the store I saw this Kashi pizza and decided to give it a try. 250cals for 1/3 of the pizza…I can live with that.  (I actually ate half!)  Anyway, my gripe isn’t about the taste, the price or the calories…it’s about the lack of toppings!  My pizza seemed to be lacking most of the roasted vegetables…10pieces of broccoli, a few onions and peppers…the end.  KASHI FAIL!  If I am giving up pepperoni, I expect toppings!

Kraft Fresh Take – Smokey Mesquite BBQ:

I don’t usually like prefab things like this, but I was feeling lazy and figured I would give it a try.  Plus, it was a great way for me to prepare chicken for the week for myself. Overall, it was OK.  The prep was easy, but the mix didn’t really stick to the chicken…it was more piling it on like the directions mentioned.  It smelled good in the oven and had a pretty good taste…BUT since the coating has cheese in it, the bottom of the chicken came out wet.  It didn’t taste bad, but if you are a texture person…I suggest skipping the “coating” step and just pile it on top.  This will give you crisp on top, while avoiding the wet mess on the bottom.  Also, leftovers…the wet bottom of the chicken congeals and makes for interesting reheating results.

Crest White Strips Supreme Professional:

Now after all that eating…it’s time to whiten!

Just a heads up, I don’t have yellow teeth…but I am one who likes to brighten my smile!  I smile all the time, so this is a confidence booster for me 🙂  I have been using Crest White Strips for a decade or so and have always been pleased with the results.  For the past yr I have been using the 3D white strips with advanced seal and they are great.  They stick to my teeth and brighten my smile…in just 30min.  I also had my husband use them to prep for pictures and there was a HUGE difference in his teeth…HUGE!  Anyway, when I was at the dentist yesterday I saw these on the counter, inquired and purchased them.  I love trying new things and since they were roughly the same price of the ones in the store (around $60)…I was sold.  I used them today…and was immediately ANNOYED!  The strips are thin and super flimsy…the opposite of the ones I have from the drugstore.  They did have a good amount of whitening gel on them though…I put them on and right away they started sliding around.  SERIOUSLY!  come on Crest, get it together…these things are moving around like a cheap competitor of yours!!!  Needless to say, I stuck it out….they foamed up and didn’t hurt my teeth.  I guess time will tell if they whiten like the label claims…maybe i’ll look like a Hollywood actor in a few weeks!  But, in my opinion…stick with the Crest strips from the drugstore…they stick to your teeth better 🙂

21 Day Fix by Beach Body:

CONFESSION – I HATE working out and since I wasn’t blessed with a fast metabolism, being lazy makes the weight stick around…FAIL!  I have a few workout DVD sets, but after a few weeks they all end up on the DVD rack collecting dust.  Then I noticed that my cousin was promoting this deal for February…I did some research and decided to buy it.  The program is about portion control…essentially changing your eating habits throughout the 21 days.  It comes with color coded containers (each a different size), which represent veggies, fruits, proteins…etc.  Easy enough!  I did choose the option that came with the 30day supply of Shakeology, so I have a meal replacement factored into the plan.  My package came last night and after reading the booklets, I felt like this was something I could and would actually follow through with.  It’s a 30min a day workout (easy enough), 1 shake and eating the amount of food that corresponds with your caloric intake range. (all explained in the booklet).  NO calorie counting and NO buying special foods…it seems there is a way to fit just about anything into this eating plan…EVEN wine!  Only 3 glasses a week, but it’s better than nothing!  I did the first workout today…and while I wasn’t very graceful with it, I did manage to get through it without hurting myself or feeling like an out of shape loser!  SCORE!  I was sweating and sore by the end…win win!  I’ll report back once I finish the 21 days…but if you need a jumpstart or just want to lose a little weight, I suggest giving this a try.  Remember you don’t have to buy the shakes with it…you can just buy the 21 day fix!  Check it out and if you decide to try it, buy it through a Beach Body coach…its a bit cheaper than buying it from the main website.  (If you get the shakeology, try the chocolate.  The strawberry is ok…but not great.  They have vegan options too!)

The little chart in the picture is how you count the “containers” that you have eaten throughout the day.  It’s a LOT of food and there are snack options too.  So if you like chocolate or tortilla chips…you can have some!

We have reached the end of this review blog and I am off to eat some more of my containers!  Protein and veggies for dinner 🙂

Until next time….keep reading! 🙂
